G is for Game Plan

by Kim Van Sickler

Gotta have a map to follow
All the time.
Maybe I’ve got to research a topic, write a post, edit a story, read a book
Every day I set goals I have the power to achieve. No one can take that from me.

Perhaps the query won’t get a request, but I send it.
Like the backpacker hiking a hundred miles, one step at a time.
All of my work to submit and write and research and read and
Network will be filled with highs and lows, but it’s MY journey.

Kim at the start of last week's 100-mile backpacking trip along the Ohio & Erie Canal.

  2. I live by the canal, it's one of my favorite places to go for walks- how did you like it?

    1. It kicked my ass on some days. I haven't pushed my body like that for a long time--(20 miles a day.) It was that 20-pound pack that did it, and relatively speaking, that's not a heavy pack. But as much as I babied my feet, they blistered. Most days I went to bed wondering if I'd be able to continue in the morning, but the restorative powers of a good night's sleep are amazing. And the beauty of the trail, and the solitude, and time to think and talk to my husband, and the anticipation of checking into our new B&B each night, were priceless.

    1. You know what? It really did. Now to finish up all of the other pressing matters that are weighing on me this week and get back to it!

  7. Cute! I agree, having a plan is always best, even at the grocery store. The times I don't, I'm wandering aisles and forgetting stuff. Such as with groceries as in life... :)

Stopping by for A to Z! Here's mine: A Girl and her Diary
